Unless you wanted to just watch Vieira's diving during that season?

He only scored 2 goals and RoyKeane and Cantona had just retired & RoyKeane missed 8 months of the season including the 2 games vs Arsenal so there's not much to see from Vieira that season.

Looking at Roys limp wristed, girly "Punches" at Viera here and Shearer, its safe to say he was no "tough guy"...the punch v Viera is embarrassing, doesnt even land and so flimsy. Only teenage boys and beta males are fooled by Roys act. I will stick with MMA.

@Johnny Twomey that was the following season. Arsenal beat utd 3 nil at highbury that season.

@Johnny Twomey That was 99/00 but yeah keane had a great game that day. 98/99 Vieira was MOTM at highbury, both good in this one.

@souster98 Keane did him when Arsenal were at home that same season. United won 2-1 away and Keane got both the goals

Great battle this one, i'd say they were both equally great this game to be honest

You must be an Arsenal fan or taught to hate on ManUtd because of their success. Because anyone who's not on drugs just analysing the 2 teams can only honestly see Arsenal as the dirty team, same with the v.Nistelrooy incident etc...

I saw 9:14 at slowed down at a different angle on another video. Keane hits Vieira's leg, Vieira punches Keane and falls over, Keane instantly tries to punch him back. Two of them were brilliant. I miss those days.

No...Viera punches Keane, Keane throws a girly punch that doesnt even land, Viera pretends it did land and falls over.

Arsenal should have won another double this season. Man Utd could easily have won nothing instead of the treble.

  17. CD DB

    CD DBPrije 2 mjeseci

@SouthyA Absolute bullshit. Arsenal's 97/98 double was much luckier than ManUtd's 98/99 treble make no mistake about that. You say ManUtd could've won nothing, so can every team every season. It would've been a travesty though. But would it have been a travesty if ManUtd won 97/98 title? I don't think so, I can't see how Arsenal were more worthy champions. ManUtd 12 GD better and only 1 point behind (so half a point really if that) and even that was because of 2 lucky wins for Arsenal vs ManUtd (controversial 3-2 at Highbury Winterburn fouled Scholes in box at 2-2 no pen given then Winterburn sets up Arsenal's late winner) in the first season massive player & captain Cantona left and new captain also important RoyKeane injured missing 8 months of 97/98 including Arsenal title deciding games. ManUtd beat Arsenal basically 3 times in the 99 FAcup semi-finals. First game 0-0 but RoyKeane scored perfectly valid goal, bizarrely disallowed. In the replay ManUtd took the lead (another great goal) and were cruising and won the game again but for Bergkamp's deflected lucky shot. ManUtd then harshly down to 10 men Keane sent off so ManUtd have to win it all over again in extra-time and with less men and did with an iconic goal from Giggs. ManUtd's treble was down to 2 main things, talant & bottle. ManUtd weren't actually lucky. Schmeichel saved a pen in the replay to prevent a travesty loss before extra-time, that alone showed talant and bottle. After all the bad luck ManUtd had, Arsenal play it off like ManUtd were lucky to win just because Bergkamp missed a penalty🤦‍♂️it shouldn't have even been a replay and it's not like the pen wasn't awarded and it was saved not missed like Yorke missed in the PL vs Arsenal which helped Arsenal finish a bit closer to ManUtd in the table than they should've done that season. ManUtd had control of that title race apart from that very brief moment after being completely robbed of the win at Anfield on May5th controversial Liverpool comeback to 2-2 from 0-2 down, Arsenal then lost to Leeds away they even say that was lucky for ManUtd?? Leeds away was a hard game and Arsenal knew that and still lost. Arsenal obviously weren't the best team. ManUtd were also top scorers by a distance in the hardest format of the champions league there's ever been and ManUtd won it in invincible style, even with Keane & Scholes suspended in the final vs Bayern (both players had scored against Bayern earlier in the competition). Remember both 97/98 & 98/98 Arsenal played hardly any European football compared to ManUtd which also takes it's toll on the domestic seasons. ManUtd did much better in Europe both seasons than Arsenal did (and also much better in the years surrounding those seasons). ManUtd had been unlucky the previous couple of attempts in CL but they were the best team in the competition overall in 1998/99 you can't deny and the teams ManUtd faced in both FAcup & CL that season, really tough opponent list (and as mentioned extra games they shouldn't have needed to play I.e the FAcup semi's 2×120 min games vs Arsenal instead of 1×90min 1-0 win Keane match winner, that is 30mins short of 2 extra games because of that awful decision, also 2 CL qualification games due to Arsenal taking the only automatic qualfying CL place for being lucky 97/98 PL winners) and for ManUtd to still remain unbeaten in both & win both unbeaten and also win the PL by only losing 3 games (and being PL's top scorers, for a 4th consecutive season....and scored 21 more than Arsenal) it's the most impressive season any PL team have produced overall, still to this day despite the fact that Chel$ea & Man$ity have been trying to buy team's every year that can emulate that ManUtd achievement yet they & everyone else have always failed to equal that season. You have no right to belittle that achievement.

@Johnny Twomey 98/99 prem arsenal 3-0, 01/02 prem home and away, 02/03 fa cup 5th round at Old Trafford. 4 games vieita completely got the better of keane. Keane got a few over him too, 99/00 when he scored 2 and the 6-1 are the best I saw keane play against arsenal, top player but to say keane got the better of him all the time is false, most were very close battles, keane got a few over vieira and vice versa

@Johnny Twomey Vieira was way more skillfull than your beloved keano.I think u haven't watched Vieira play or you are refusing to accept the facts. Ohhh and btw Zidane was amazing in the 1998 WC but it wasn't like he was carrying the team like Maradona did in '86.Other players stepped up on various important occasions and Vieira was one of them inspite of limited playing time. As I said before trophies are a collective achievement but dumb Utd fans like u seem to make it a sort of individual achievement and then judge players only on the basis of that which is absolute nonsense.Going by your shite logic,Gotze has won a WC but Messi hasn't.Does that make Gotze a better player? Please think before putting out your arguments man.

@shubhang kulkarni fuck, you are dead right about that.... but who won the league that year??? Also, France won the world cup because of Zidane... not Viera... he is a great player but no Roy Keane

Ohhh and btw Vieira has won the world cup and the Euro(mentioning this as u were focusing on collective honours).Wasn't a coward like Keane to walk out on his team😂😂

@CD DB I guess u haven't watched the highlights of the reverse fixture of this season where in arsenal thumped utd 3-0 and Vieira was all over Keane. And btw for your kind info titles or CLs are only won if you have a great team. You are talking as if Keane was the only player responsible for utd's triumphs.Judging a player only by the number of collective honours is absolutely stupid.
